DoDonPachi Blissful Death AD, from bullet hell heroes Cave, is just what you'd expect: a vertically scrolling shmup with lots of screen-filling explosions.

You get a banner commercial on the menu screen and a movie when you die, both of which may be deleted for a one-time fee because this is effectively the same game as the PlayStation 2 era arcade hit, DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou, which was re-released as a free-to-play title.

Even while it lacks the polish of contemporary clones like Sky Force Reloaded or Phoenix 2, both of which shamelessly take its ideas, the touchscreen controls are adequate, and the flickering sprites and CRT-style graphics are entertaining.

Players can customize the game with in-app purchases. Some of the customizations available are: “EVASION SUPPORT” which makes it easier to dodge opponents’ bullets, “SHOT BOOST” which lets you start the game with a powerful weapon and “BEE LICENSE” which gives you a special pass to the second round which normally can only be accessed by beating the hardest mode.
