How to Stop Your iPhone's Side Button From Hanging Up a Call
The current call ends when you push the Side button on an iPhone. However, you can turn off this default setting with iOS 16. Read on to discover how.
You can end a call on your iPhone at any time by pressing the Side button on your phone whenever you place or receive one. If you have a tendency to press it accidentally, this can either be a handy way to end the call or an awkward way to unintentionally and abruptly end the conversation.
Thankfully, Apple has made it possible to turn off the Side button's end call capability in iOS 16. All you have to do to activate it on iPhone 11 models and later is flick a virtual switch. The procedures are demonstrated in the steps below.
- Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Accessibility.
- Under "Physical and Motor," tap Touch.
- Toggle on the switch next to Prevent Lock to End Call.
All there is to it is that. In the future, it won't hang up the call if you accidently touch the Side button during a call. Remember, though, that if you choose Prevent Lock to End Call, you won't be able to hit the Side button twice to reject an incoming call.
