Apple Watch Ultra: How to Activate, Cancel, and Disable the Siren

Apple Watch Ultra has an 86-decibel siren that you may activate if you ever get lost, hurt, or have any emergency circumstance and need to alert people to your position.

The siren has a distinctive sound signature that alternates between two separate rhythms and can repeat for several hours. The siren may be heard up to 600 feet or 180 meters away. The first pattern indicates trouble, while the second imitates the widely recognized SOS signal.

As a result, it's rather loud; as a result, you shouldn't use it in places with tight spaces or wear your watch too near to your ears when the Siren is ringing.

How to Turn on Siren on Apple Watch Ultra

You can turn on the Siren using the Action button or the side button.

Using the Action Button:

  1. Press and hold the Action button until the Siren slider appears.
  2. Drag the Siren slider to start a countdown.
  3. After the countdown, the Siren starts.

As an alternative, you can hold down the Action button while the countdown is in progress in order to launch Siren. Go to Settings -> Action Button and turn off the toggle next to Press to Turn On if you don't want the Siren to sound continuously when you hold the button down.

How to Disable the Siren Action Button Function

You can turn off the feature if you're worried that a prolonged press of the Action button might unintentionally activate the Siren. This is how.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your ‌Apple Watch Ultra‌.
  2. Tap Action Button.
  3. Scroll down and under "Siren" toggle off the switch next to Hold to Turn On.

Holding down the Action button won't trigger the Siren after that. Although the Action Button may still be used to trigger the Siren, doing so now requires holding the button down while swiping across the Siren slider, making it much more difficult to mistakenly sound the warning.
