iOS 16: How to Customize Your AirPods Settings
If you recently purchased a pair of AirPods, you'll undoubtedly want to change their settings. You should be aware that some programmable features are only available when you connect to an iPhone.
It's important to note that the most recent significant iOS software update has somewhat altered how to access AirPods settings on iPhone. When you have AirPods attached, iOS 16 adds a new tap-through settings menu that is conveniently located at the top of the Settings app, directly below your Apple ID banner.
You may adjust a number of AirPods features here, including the following:
- Change AirPods name
- Enable or disable Noise Cancelation
- Enable or disable Transparency
- Change AirPods touch controls
- Perform an Ear Tip Fit Test
- Enable or disable Automatic Ear Detection
- Control automatic connections
- Set up Personalized Spatial Audio
- Choose between Left and Right Microphone
- Enable or disable Optimized Battery Charging
- Enable or disable AirPods on Find My network
- Accessibility options
- Disconnect AirPods
- Forget This Device
In earlier iterations of iOS, you had to navigate to Settings -> Bluetooth and then tap the encircled "i" symbol on the right. Thankfully, this form of navigating is no longer the sole way to locate your AirPods settings, even though it still functions.
