The Battle of Polytopia (for iPhone) Review
With a title like "The Battle of Polytopia," you might think this is a sad story about how a polyamorous utopian community was torn apart. Instead, it is a war between many places, which is why it is called Polytopia. The game is free, but there are a few in-app purchases that aren't necessary. I spent a lot of time testing the Battle of Polytopia on an iPhone 6 ($659, 64GB, Silver at Groupon). By "test," I mean I played games that were so fun that a quick trip to the bathroom turned into a 45-minute mission to take over the world.

The Best iPhone Games for 2022 - Part 1
No matter if you're a PC gamer, a console gamer, or an iPhone user who loves a cheap diversion, we all have one thing in common: We've all used the App Store to get at least one game. After all, mobile games are all about ease of use and quick dopamine hits. Would you rather wait in line at the grocery store and read tabloids or start playing Crossy Road? It's an easy choice. It's not quite as easy to choose which games to download, though.

‘Sumire’ Review – A Short and Emotional Adventure With a Brilliant Narrative
Sumire, a $5.99 game by GameTomo, caught my eye from the first few seconds of the trailer announcing it, before it came out for Nintendo Switch and PC. The music and art were great each time, but the story is what makes the experience stand out. Since then, I've played Sumire on both Switch and Steam. Even though the game play itself wasn't anything special, the story, writing, art, and music in Sumire made it an unforgettable experience. I was very happy to hear that it was coming to iOS, and I didn't want to miss the chance to experience Sumire's sad story again.
‘Dragon Quest Builders’ Mobile Review – Great on iPhone, Not as good on iPad
Square Enix released the first Dragon Quest Builders ($27.99) on mobile to mark the 36th birthday of the Dragon Quest series in Japan. When I played Dragon Quest Builders on PS4 in 2016, it was a pleasant surprise. If you haven't heard of Dragon Quest Builders before, it is a spin-off series that combines the look and building of Minecraft with the charm of Dragon Quest. On PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, a sequel to the original Dragon Quest Builders built (no pun intended) on it in almost every way, making it a much better game. So, this mobile version of the first game was a little hard to understand. Having played it on multiple iPhones and iPads as well as consoles to compare the graphics, Square Enix has done a lot to make this game better, but there are still some strange problems that keep it from being as great as it should be on mobile.
‘Diablo Immortal’ Review – A Deal with Diablo
Diablo Immortal (Free) is here in some strange way. It was announced in November 2018 during a presentation that has gone down in meme history. It seems like a million years ago that someone said, "Do you guys not have phones?" That person probably felt bad about what he said as soon as he said it. The fans' explosive (but not in a good way) response. A steady and steady change. A global pandemic. How Apple Arcade became popular. All that nonsense about Fortnite between Epic and Apple. Blizzard and Activision are being accused of very bad things. Microsoft is going to buy the whole shebang. And Diablo Immortal is here in some strange way.
‘Poinpy’ Review – Don’t Go Down, Head Up Instead
Up until now, I haven't paid much attention to the games that Netflix has to offer. I do have a subscription, but I mostly use it to read about Spider-Man. But the new additions and announcements, especially Poinpy (Free), have caught my attention. A new game from the person who made Downwell? Yes, thank you.
‘Ace Attorney Trilogy’ 2022 Review – Long Overdue, but Should’ve Been a Better Port
Since the Ace Attorney Trilogy HD came out for iOS around the world in 2013, it's been quite a journey to follow the Ace Attorney Trilogy on mobile. If you're not familiar with this release, Capcom's Ace Attorney series has mostly great games, memorable characters, great music, and great courtroom cases spread across multiple games on different platforms. Mobile has been lucky because it has all of the mainline games, while current consoles can only play the first three and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, which is a set of two games that are only available on mobile in Japan. The Ace Attorney Trilogy HD was taken off the market by Capcom last week, and the new and improved Ace Attorney Trilogy ($24.99) is now out as a premium release. In this review of Ace Attorney Trilogy for iOS, I'll try to compare as many versions as I can, as I do with all port reviews. I'll also talk about why, despite the improvements, this might not be for you.
‘Aero Fighters 2 ACA NEOGEO’ Review – Don’t Underestimate the Power of Dolphin
Even though I've given up on reviewing every single SNK and Hamster Arcade Archives game that comes out every week, I will still stop by sometimes to talk about games that I really like. One of these games is Aero Fighters 2, which costs $3.99, so here we are. Aero Fighters 2 came out in the middle of the NEOGEO's most popular time on the market, which is different from many of the other games we've looked at so far. This is also a notable release because it was made by Video System, which is one of the few third parties to make games for this console.
‘Streets of Rage 4’ iOS Review – The Best Mobile Beat Em Up Ever?
When Streets of Rage 4 ($7.99) came out for Nintendo Switch, I was amazed by how it looked, how it played, and how it sounded. Since then, I've played it more than once on almost every platform, and it's now on the list of games I install on all platforms so I can easily play them when I want to relax, along with Dead Cells, No Man's Sky, and whatever rhythm game I'm playing at the time. Playdigious's announcement that Streets of Rage 4 would be coming to mobile was great, because it gave me another way to play this masterpiece and let me see how this version of the game compares to the console and PC versions, as well as how it runs on Steam Deck. As I have done in my other reviews of mobile ports, I will compare the different versions.
‘Burning Fight ACA NEOGEO’ Review – You Should Probably Have That Looked At
One of the hardest things about being a new console maker is that you usually won't get much help from third parties until you're well-known. That means you have to power your system yourself and fill in any gaps as needed. Of course, the NEOGEO was not a typical platform. In fact, it's likely that SNK didn't care much about the home console version. But even in arcades, a platform was being sold. If SNK couldn't give players new games regularly in the genres they wanted, there would always be room for a game from another company. It's a big request, and it's not often that a company can handle it with grace.
