The Best iPhone Games for 2022 - Part 5

No matter if you're a PC gamer, a console gamer, or an iPhone user who loves a cheap diversion, we all have one thing in common: We've all used the App Store to get at least one game.

After all, mobile games are all about ease of use and quick dopamine hits. Would you rather wait in line at the grocery store and read tabloids or start playing Crossy Road? It's an easy choice. It's not quite as easy to choose which games to download, though.

The Apple App Store is full of games, but it can be hard to stay away from the bad ones. Don't worry, we can help. We've picked out the fun, well-made games that you should have on your iPhone, especially since Fortnite is still nowhere to be found. You can feel safe downloading these games. And let us know what your favorite games are in the comments.

PUBG Mobile

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been a big hit on home consoles and PCs, so it makes sense that the next place to grow would be mobile. Players can now use their phones to join together in a huge battle royale mode. Never before has it been so easy to play PUBG.

Reigns

In Reigns, you play a king from the Middle Ages who has to decide how to run his land best. The game looks like a card game, and you swipe left or right to decide whether to follow your advisors' advice or not. Your choices have results that affect how people, the church, the economy, and the economy see you. If you don't keep these four pillars of society in balance, your rule will end.

Ridiculous Fishing - A Tale of Redemption

You try to catch as many fish as possible in Ridiculous Fishing before pulling them into the air and shooting them by tapping the screen. With each hit, you earn money that you can use to buy new items and level up.

Rovio Classics: Angry Birds

The App Store has been around for so long that many of its first big hits can no longer be downloaded. The technology is just too old, which is why it's hard to play old games on new consoles. Few mobile game series were as successful as Angry Birds, which made a lot of money and spawned other games and even movies. Rovio updated the first Angry Birds game so that it can be played on modern devices. If you want to try out how fun it is to throw fat birds at green pigs, you can do so now.

Rymdkapsel

The minimalist art style of Rymdkapsel makes this real-time strategy game for the iPhone stand out. Players build a space station, manage its resources, protect it from attacks, and try to do important research at the same time. There are different rooms in your base that do different things, and the game is over when all of your workers die.

Sayonara Wild Hearts

Sayonara Wild Hearts is an interactive pop music album that is only available on Apple Arcade. We don't care what you call it, as long as you get your hands and ears on this trippy, transcendent, technicolor journey through a really great collection of songs.

Shadowmatic

Shadowmatic is a simple but popular game where the player moves abstract objects in front of a light until their shadows form a shape they can recognize. People have said good things about how realistic and detailed the graphics are and how well the game works.

Slay the Spire

The collectible card game combat in Slay the Spire makes it a roguelite you'll want to play again and again. Even after dozens of runs, you'll still find new ways to combine spell cards and make the monsters suffer. Keep in mind that this game is published by Humble Bundle, which is owned by Ziff Davis, which is also PCMag's parent company.

Spaceteam

Spaceteam is one of a kind for the iPhone because it is a cooperative multiplayer game. Players connect to each other through Wi-Fi so they can work together to keep a spaceship from crashing. Because the game is so fast-paced, players often have to shout instructions to each other, which makes them feel even more stressed.

Terraria

Terraria is like Minecraft, but in 2D. It's an adventure sandbox game where you can explore, craft, build, and fight in a world that is made by a set of rules. You can go from one biome to another and find different characters to talk to.

Threes!

Remember 2048? You should still pay attention to the original version of that game. Threes! was a popular iPhone game in 2014, before it was copied many times. Players move numbered tiles and put them together based on groups of three. The game goes on until no more moves can be made, at which point the final score is added up. The copycats were the ones who made it so annoying that you had to get a certain number of tiles.

Thumper: Pocket Edition

In this simple but memorable game, you move a beetle along a track at very high speeds. In Thumper, you have to keep up with the music while avoiding obstacles, fighting enemies, and getting ready for turns. The haunting music, mesmerizing visuals, and brutal reaction times make for a very tense gaming experience.

Transistor

Transistor was one of the best console games of 2014, and even though it doesn't work quite as well on an iOS touch screen, it's still a beautiful, smart, and mechanically advanced sci-fi action-RPG.

Ultimate Rivals

Ultimate Rivals, which is only available on Apple Arcade, makes arcade sports games even sillier by letting you mix and match players from different leagues. This is the game to watch if you want to see LeBron James play hockey or Megan Rapinoe throw an American football.

Warbits

This game lets you control an army and beat the other side using a turn-based strategy. Warbits is a strategy game that was inspired by the old Advance Wars games. Each unit has its own strengths and weaknesses, as well as its own power-ups. The game has a campaign, a challenge mode, and online play. The graphics are cute, and the dialogue is funny.

The Witness

The Witness is similar to Myst in that it puts you in a mysterious place and makes you figure out how to get out. You'll be looking for clues and figuring out puzzles, but don't forget to enjoy the view when you can.

XCOM: Enemy Within

The classic strategy game series got a new start with XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which was also one of the best games of 2013. XCOM: Enemy Within builds on what was good about Enemy Unknown by adding more side missions and types of enemies. It's the best version of a game that was already great, so if you're a big fan of strategy games, you should definitely get it.

Year Walk

This iPhone game is really scary. The story is based on a Swedish folktale called "The Year Walk." In that story, people go on a journey and compete in a series of "divinations" to find out what the future holds. There are hidden messages and different ways to finish the story.
