The Best iPhone Games for 2022 - Part 3
No matter if you're a PC gamer, a console gamer, or an iPhone user who loves a cheap diversion, we all have one thing in common: We've all used the App Store to get at least one game.
After all, mobile games are all about ease of use and quick dopamine hits. Would you rather wait in line at the grocery store and read tabloids or start playing Crossy Road? It's an easy choice. It's not quite as easy to choose which games to download, though.
The Apple App Store is full of games, but it can be hard to stay away from the bad ones. Don't worry, we can help. We've picked out the fun, well-made games that you should have on your iPhone, especially since Fortnite is still nowhere to be found. You can feel safe downloading these games. And let us know what your favorite games are in the comments.
Grindstone
Grindstone stood out as a shining jewel during Apple Arcade’s launch because it put a novel spin on a standard puzzle game trope. Instead of just matching jewels to clear them, you match enemies for your beefy barbarian to smash into paste.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
With the release of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft for mobile devices in 2014, the World of Warcraft franchise grew a bit. Hearthstone is a free-to-play, collectible card game that is based on the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. Each player takes a turn. Because of how popular it is, many expansion packs and even an esports tournament have been made for it.
Her Story
This movie, which came out in 2015, is billed as an interactive film in which you are given parts of a police interview and asked to figure out what really happened. Her Story has live-action performances on a simulated desktop. The story, character performances, and gameplay have all been praised.
Hidden Folks
Taking a page from the popular Where's Waldo book series, Hidden Folks gives you interactive, animated scenes, in which you must find hidden elements. Tapping the hand-drawn art lets you interact with it as you search for characters, objects, and animals.
Hitman Go
It has always been hard to bring existing game series to iOS. Not all games can be played on a single touch screen instead of a console with controllers and buttons. But Hitman Go does a great job of capturing the essence of Agent 47, everyone's favorite bald assassin, in a way that works well on mobile devices. You'll be surprised at how satisfying it is to move figures across flat surfaces to hit their targets in this cool series of strategy board games.
Inside
Inside by Playdead is a puzzle-platformer that takes place in a dark, dystopic world full of government experiments and creatures that look like zombies. Inside is a spiritual successor to Playdead's Limbo. It has 2.5D graphics that are mostly black and white.
Lara Croft Go
If you like the Lara Croft series, you'll love what they did with this mobile game. Taking a cue from Hitman Go, Lara Croft Go went one step further and added hills to the game board. It feels like a real Lara Croft game because she has to climb up mountain cliffs and move around deep holes.
Lego Star Wars Castaways
Lego and Star Wars have always gone together like peanut butter and jelly. In this new Apple Arcade game, you can make your own character and live in a brick-based version of the Star Wars world. Talk to smugglers, fight enemies, or just dance around if you want to.
Limbo
Back in 2010, Playdead released the black-and-white puzzle platformer Limbo, which saw you take control of a boy searching for his sister in a dark and dystopic world. The game stood out from the pack due to its challenging puzzles and gruesome depiction of the player-character's demise, helping to elevate the conversation of video games as art.
Linn: Path of Orchards
In the action-puzzle game Linn: Path of Orchards, you have to use the character's ability to fly and jump to move through rotating platforms. The game is fun to play because it has attractive color schemes.
