Brake Away is a not-crashing game as opposed to a racing game. Your task is to tap and hold the cars' brake pedals to apply the brakes in order to stop them from colliding as they drive themselves around the looping courses.
This simple setup is made more challenging by the fact that automobiles don't always take turns; occasionally, they opt to drive right past them instead. This keeps you on your toes, and you frequently only have a split second to decide which of two possibly colliding cars you're going to slow down.
When you get it right, it's incredibly fulfilling, and a series of wise choices leads to a protracted but progressively more perilous existence. Even if the action itself is still engaging, the lengthy grind to unlock new cars and particularly tracks is due to the game's steady drip feed of rewards.
